In response to Washington's recent catastrophic flooding, Amazon has graciously stepped up to support emergency relief efforts with a $1 million donation to United Ways of the Pacific Northwest's immediate and long-term disaster relief efforts.
"We are overwhelmed with gratitude by the early support of Amazon. As a Pacific Northwest business, we are excited for this partnership and look forward to getting the funds out as soon as possible to provide relief and organizational capability to our communities that needed the most. We ask every business and individual in the region to please consider how they can help. It will take everyone to clean up this monumental mess,” state Jim Cooper, President & CEO of United Ways of the Pacific Northwest.
These funds will support urgent, on-the-ground needs in the communities most severely impacted, while also strengthening long-term recovery efforts in the months ahead. United Ways of the Pacific Northwest is working closely with local United Way organizations and trusted community partners to ensure resources and essential goods reach families and communities whose lives have been disrupted by this catastrophic flooding.
Amazon's disaster relief support for Washington also includes using their logistics network to deliver more than 50,000 emergency supplies—including hygiene kits, comfort items for children, and medical devices—to front-line nonprofits. READ MORE.
"Our work at Amazon extends far beyond business—it's about being there for our neighbors when they need us most," said Amazon's chief global affairs and legal officer David Zapolsky.
As communities across Washington begin the long and difficult process of rebuilding, sustained support will be essential to help families recover, restore stability, and move forward. The impacts of this catastrophic flooding will be felt for months—and in some cases years—to come, making continued investment in both immediate relief and long-term recovery critical. We are incredibly grateful to partner with Amazon, whose generous financial support and rapid deployment of emergency supplies have enabled United Ways of the Pacific Northwest and our local partners to respond quickly to urgent community needs. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to standing with our neighbors in times of crisis and ensuring that communities have the resources, coordination, and support they need to heal and rebuild stronger than before.
