We're keeping our tracking list up-to-date even though changes are happening quickly as the state House and Senate actively engage in floor debates. Here's what has happened so far this week. 

The first major deadline for 2019 legislation on Friday. For a bill to stay active in this year's session, it has to have cleared the bill's committee of origin by Friday unless it is in one of the fiscal committees (Such as Senate Ways & Means, House Finance and House Appropriations.).  The fiscal committee deadline is March 1.  Some important activities will benefit from your active participation. 

This weekend's snow has slowed work down in the Legislature but good things have been happening. 

The Working Families Tax Credit proposal gets a hearing this week and other issues are heating up. There's some good reasons to learn more.

Bills of interest to United Ways are getting hearings during this third week of the 2019 Legislative Session. Here's more information.

The Legislature is in full swing this week. For instance, today (Wednesday) at 1:30 p.m., the House Human Services and Early Learning Committee will hold a hearing on a set of bills related to child care and early learning.

This is the first week of session of session and already hundreds of bills have been introduced, including the Governor’s proposed operating budget.  In coming weeks, we’ll be identifying bills to follow and their hearings. But right now, here are some important advocacy days for your calendar.

The 2019 Legislative Session starts next Monday, January 14 with six new state senators and 23 new state representatives (counting the appointment to replace Rep. Manweller).  Here is what is going on in some of our key policy agenda issues:
